I bought two just last week. There's no e- alternative for works of local authors for me.
So I don't have to think too long about whether to choose e or p version of a book.

I bought 4 hardcover pbooks last week and 7 in March, including the 2-volume biography of Abraham Lincoln by Michael Burlingame. This month, so far, I have bought 8 ebooks; in March I bought 3.

Whether I buy a pbook or an ebook is determnined by whether I want a permanent copy of a book in my library, in which case I buy a hardcover copy, or if I consider the book a read-it-once-then-delete-it book, in which case I buy an ebook. On occasion I will buy both the hardcover and ebook versions of a book -- one for my library and the other so I can read it while traveling.

I do not consider one form a replacement for the other; rather, I think of them as complementary as each fulfilling a need for me.

You know Ivan, between the picture and the "couldn't help it" you remind me an awful lot of a little boy who just had an accident.

I buy a dozen or so pbooks each month. I try to get most of them at the discount book stores around here. I had a delightful time in Barnes & Noble in February, spending the gift card I had received for Christmas. Picked up a bunch of cozy mysteries that I could use in my book swapping group.

I just *love* buying ebooks for $0.00, and I've only passed on two of the free books that Amazon.com has offered. I picked up the 16 free books from Harlequin, even though I rarely read a romance novel. I figure maybe someday I'll be a little old lady with blue-white hair and might find that they're just what I want to read!

I bought 22 books from Amazon in March -- 14 of them were free and the others ranged from $0.99 to $9.99. I've bought 6 books so far in April, none of them free, though all were very inexpensive as ebooks go.

I bought about a dozen pbooks just yesterday. Used, of course. I collect old SF and pulp fiction, and much of what I have may likely never make it to ebook (unless I scan them myself). And of course my Sony will never have that heady old-book smell.

I have bought pbooks since buying my ereader...I've found that for the mass market paperbacks, a few are cheaper as pbooks than ebooks...HOWEVER, I also realized that for HARDCOVERS, it's definitely cheaper to buy ebooks, so I will probably buy alot of hardcover books as ebooks.

I still have a ton of unread pbooks on my shelves too. And I'm still finishing up library books from before I got my e-reader two weeks ago. So, the transition has bit a bit slower than I thought it would be, but I'll get there.

Pretty much the only physical books I still purchase are those with more graphically oriented content. For one thing these are often not available in ebook form. And for two, they don't display very well on current handheld devices.

Anyways, the last one I bought was in December.

I was able to borrow the Mobipocket edition from the library and found that when it was converted to LRF, it was fine. Just a rather boring story.

I bought my latest pbook... wait... I didn't buy it!

I work with a publisher of schoolbooks. These also including reading books (for all ages). And once a year, they (apparently) have a clean-up action. You could take a certain amount of books for free, if you wanted more, you had to pay 1 euro per book (the money goes to a schooling project somewhere).

I got 4 books, so I didn't actually pay anything... But I did get that one book I've been looking for, for a long time now...
