Humm... Texas.... that brings to mind the below..
http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/135874 "I guess the old saying is true: Don't mess with Texas. And, I guess: Don't mess with a Texas lawmaker's PC, either." ![]() http://www.computerworld.com/action/...&taxonomyId=89 "Texas state Senate bans Vista from use in government agencies Senate provision contained in a budget bill that still requires final approval Eric Lai April 2, 2009 (Computerworld) The Texas state Senate yesterday gave preliminary approval to a state budget that includes a provision forbidding government agencies from upgrading to Microsoft Corp.'s Windows Vista without written consent of the legislature." And here I use to think that dealing with fire ants was a priority. ![]() |

Ok, don't know how I missed this thread. Native Texan here. My great-great grandfather built the first frame house in Hutchinson County, Texas. (Up until then, they'd all been living in dugouts). Born in Irving, raised in Stinnett (north of Amarillo), spent the last ten years or so in Cisco (between Ft. Worth and Abilene). I've travelled through most of the state at one time or another.
Even though I'm now in Illinois, and I love it here, too, Texas is the home of my heart. p.s. Ricky, I'm truly sorry you feel the way you do about Texas. I wish for your sake you didn't feel Trapped in Texas and instead loved it the way I do. Maybe it truly is a state of mind. |

Okay. I confess that I reside in Texas. Though not a native, I've lived here for nearly 33 years.
![]() I'll admit that I first hated Texas, and here's a short explanation why: My husband's job was moving to Texas. We had little notice and no time to plan a move. I was about 6 months pregnant. We had no firends or relatives here, it was the middle of summer, and the day after we arrived it rained for a week straight, and was steamy hot and humid. ![]() We stayed in a horrible motel in the middle of nowhere for nearly 2 weeks until we could find a place to live. I was stuck alone in that motel room every day while my husband went off to work (with the car.) I spent each day paranoid, sitting in the middle of the bed, just watching out for bugs. Because of all the rain, there were a lot of roaches around and I was petrified. I hate bugs. And I was all the more horrified because until our trip to Texas I had never seen a roach in my entire life. I'm not saying that roaches didn't exist where I came from. I was just fortunate enough never to have encountered one. And yep . . . they're probably bigger in Texas. ![]() I was convinced this was HELL ON EARTH; a bad sci-fi movie where roaches reigned in the rain. ![]() Over time things got better, and now I can't imagine living anywhere else. ![]() |

Of course, if you wanted to run the world without anyone knowing about it then you would protest that you dnp't want to run the world. I sense a conspiracy...
