My understanding is that is is supposed to gather some info from infected computers and send it "home" to the hacker. I don't know if there is a time frame that expires or not. If I stay disconnected from the net, I can see from the news how bad the damage is (or isn't) and decide what to do from there (though I can go online with my Kindle if I need to).

I just visited the Symantec website and they have a removal tool already. I'm running it now (though I don't know if I have the worm).

Consensus amongst security "experts" seems to be that if your virus software is decent and up to date, and your Windows updates are current, you should be fine.

If not an April's Fool joke, this would be great. Although my Sony would have to pried, and I mean PRIED out of my cold dead hands, I'm open to my husband owning a Kindle. I know him, better than anyone else, and I can see where a Kindle would be a good fit for him.
