If it works for german .... maybe my english will become better too if i would drink some more beer?

Have to try it...

Netseeker - I'd recommend you try an English beer to improve your English.

So that's what, eleventy-hundred miles? Forget native languages, when are all of y'all going to start using "real" measurements based on body parts (human and/or horse) instead of something as vague as a decimal system based on the circumference of the earth?

DG, why should i do that? cassidym wrote that he lived in germany for some time and i can expect that he knows the length of a kilometer.

Btw. 40km are ~25 miles.

Stick to an Irish one then - I suspect the best that would happen to you if you ordered an English one is you'd get barred...

Here in the states pretty much every Irish pub serves a Black & Tan -- half Guinness and half Bass. However, if your Irish pub has nationalist leanings then you might want to just stick with the straight Guinness (but after several of these my English gets worse for some reason).

Yes, pure guiness doesn't help. Otherwise i would already speak perfect english. Guinness Stout and Beamish also don't seem to help.
I guess i could try some english tea? But who knows what undesirable side effects english tea might have?

I've been drinking tea all my life, so I'd say no undesirable effects whatsoever

Of course, Australian English is the superior English, not least because the Prime Minister of Australia can 'swear' on TV (at least it would be considered swearing in lesser English dialects) and still garner 74% support

I'm almost 100% positive it's not the tea's fault...

(Mind you, d'you think that would stand up as a defence? "The tea made me do it!")
