That would significantly increase the price of pBooks for people in Europe, given that pBooks are low or zero-rated for VAT, whereas eBooks attract the full rate of VAT. Customs and Excise would undoubtedly say that half the price was for the pBook and half for the eBook, so the net result would be a considerable price rise for the pBook.

Given that bestsellers on Amazon are heavily subsidised by Amazon as a loss-leader for the Kindle, the result would inevitably be the removal of these subsidies, and very much more expensive books. Is that really what you want?

Not sure I'm getting what you mean. Why would that get the price higher ?
And all the same, I'll rather have more expensive books i can read, than useless inexpensive books.

Yes. It's how Amazon built its business. I think it was 6 years before Amazon turned a profit.They could be following the same policy with ebooks.
