With estimated battery life on the Jetbook of 20+ hours is that really an issue?

What I want to know is why Jetbook isn't a good deal cheaper since it doesn't have e-ink.

It has its own screen technology and not a large enough base yet to drive the price down. Even though it is LCD it is a different LCD. See the wiki for more details.

It seems to have a "street" price of about $200 which is not a bad price for this device. Some will prefer the smaller size and faster screen. But, for most those aren't good tradeoffs.
Those people prefer the lager screen and longer battery life.

For those of those of us who read graphic novels, or have textbooks with pictures, color and graphics are important. It would be nice if the Kindle which is so popular, put a bit more effort into these two things rather than all of it into design and popularity. For the price of some of these readers, the least I can ask for is a reasonably clear pictures.

Perfection is over-rated and likely un-attainable.

I'm happy with my choice - it does what I want it to do ....

I believe there are several companies hard at work on color e-ink (or other reflective) displays. The technology just isn't good enough for prime time yet. Bear in mind that Amazon did not develop this technology. They purchased it from PVI like the other manufacturers of e-ink readers.

exactly, People have different needs and preferences and what is perfect for one is likely not-perfect for someone else. And if you made it fully customizable someone would complain it was too hard to use.

I think it is more a matter of users and demand. The eBookwise which is LCD, and ancient compared to all the other dedicated devices that currently have their own forums, had enough active members posting about it (I think the posts were mostly in the Legacy forum at the time, but I think there was also an "Other" forum at one time, as well), that it made sense to create a dedicated forum.

On the other hand, since we do not have a "Miscellaneous" forum, and the JetBook does not exactly fit in the Legacy forum, I can see where it would be difficult to gain much momentum.

Oh, I'm aware they aren't the first, or the best, especially now that..what was it? 1,500 books is enough for anyone for storage?? I'm actually eying the Jetbook pretty hard, and have to agree with below, that the lack of forum for this reader is a bit depressing.

Color is not even a massive concern, I'm pretty happy with B&W graphic novels (Peresepolis awes me in several ways) I guess my desire is for BETTER graphics for graphic novels. Make sense?
