And I've always addressed others the same way - even bosses. Do American employees/cops actually do this? It seems disrespectful to me. Or is it just a scriptwriter's device to make the show more dramatic? Note that it leads to the absurd situation in "The Mentalist" where everyone calls the chief character, Patrick Jane, by a female name - "Jane". Didn't the scriptwriter realize this would happen when he was naming the character?

[3] Why do the guys in "Big Bang Theory" live together in a hovel?

They've got good paying jobs, haven't they? Can't they do better than the waitress who lives opposite, and who seems to be able to afford to live alone?

My current favourite TV shows:

- Dexter (a must see)
- How I Met Your Mother (funny and witty humor series)
- Battlestar Galactica (you like sci-fi? then you already know this series)
- Lost (sure, it lost some appeal in its path, but it's still great and it's picking up)
- Life on Mars (based on the famous UK version)
- Nip/Tuck (you gotta love or hate it)
- House (a little bit formulaic, but hey!)
- Tru Blood (never thought I would like this vampire series)
- Private Practice (one of my top 3 in the moment, by the same writters of Grey's Anatomy)
- Grey's Anatomy (To me, it's loosing it's appeal, but it's still a nice series. Didn't start to watch the 5th season yet)
- Boston Legal (funny, witty, one of the greatest TV series ever)

We had a prime minister who always had a stubble. Some people just can never be clean shaven as they beard hairs just grow too fast...

There are also a lot of shows I loved during one or more seasons but then became boring/really bad or just not as good (Alias, Heroes, Lost )and there are those where I only watched a few episodes so I don't know yet chat to decide for the whole show (Profit, The Shield, Rome, Deadwood...).

Oh, and my theory is that House shaves in the evening so that his beard has all night to grow. And yes some women find that attractive especially on a guy you don't have (or get) to kiss
