The only thing I miss from the K1 that the K2 lacks is the cover.

But then the cover for the K1 is kinda crappy, so "miss" is too strong a word.

Not only the SD card, but having to send the Kindle back to Amazon to get the battery changed?

That's right desertgrandma. Another backwards move.

I like the fact that the K2 is thinner, and a few other minor things, but on balance I think I like my K1 better (SD Card, replaceable battery, leather case, and rubberized back).

Actually if I did have one, the rubberized backing would probably be my choice. Granted the SD card is a loss but 1500 books available at any time seems reasonable.
That can be accomplished with an after market accessory.

I think the SD card, battery and case are all issues. I don't have either but I know with my mp3 player that has SD support I have 1 gig SDs for different moods. I could see having a collection of casual reading and school/work reading. For me that's more of an issue separating the content, I have ADD and some times I better off is I don't have enjoyment stuff with me.

I actually like the navigation with the silver shiny thingy! I'm a little upset that they replaced it with a joystick.

I'll miss the clunky ugliness of the first one. This one's not much better, but Kindle 1 was outright crude.

I was hoping a lower price, but it was a trade with the faster updating screen and smaller form factor.

That's a deal killer for me. I hate that I own a phone that doesn't have a user replaceable battery too.

If I were getting a K2 (which I'm not) I'd probably miss the SD slot (had to take my SD card out because it was draining the battery constantly trying to index it, but still...)

I'd definitely miss the glittery scroll bar. Call me a big dork, call me easily amused, but I like watching that little thing scoot up & down.

I'd also miss the longer paging buttons. Well, maybe I should say I know it'd take awhile to adjust to them - I like not having to be quite so precise about where I touch them. Then again, I'd probably also have to be less precise about how I hold it, which could be a plus. Gotta take the good with the bad...

I have to say I'm intrigued by K2, but my Pearl's only 6 months old and I can't see trading her in for a new model so soon when she performs her function so well for me.

I think it's pretty obvious that any aesthetic judgment is an opinion without making folks take pains to couch it in such terms.

I wouldn't buy a phone that didn't have a user replaceable battery but it's not a big deal for me with the Kindle. I wouldn't be thrilled if I had to send it in on the off chance I got a bum battery but I'd deal with it. It would be nigh on impossible to deal with not having my phone for that long.

It's too soon for me to answer until I have it in hand. I'm not that concerned about the battery and SD card issue (though I hope we can still do screen grabs).

I'm hope it's as comfortable to hold as K1. Yes, I liked the thickness and the ease of button pushing.
