Does this new firmware have the same issues in the renderer that the 4.x versions have by default? Like wobbly glyphs, broken justification, etc.
If epub and kepub have the same renderer, does epub have the features that kepub has? For example: footnote preview in a popup window.

The new renderer has new issues. Justification is OK, I think. The hinting that causes "wobbly glyphs" is definitely still present. The fallback font also falls back to a font that isn't even in the list (DejaVu Sans) and font previews don't work (and some custom fonts won't even load at all?).

I have a whole list of defects that I spotted in 5.18 that are still in this version, so uh... I hope they don't release this immediately.

It's slow for me with epubs that have a TOC - in seeing up to 30 second waits after opening a ePub or kePub. The same books opened instantly on the old engine.

I'm getting reports that Kobo's pushing out this software as an opt-in optional update when people are syncing their devices, especially if the device was bought via an affiliate.

It's not being installed automatically (thankfully), but it's definitely out there in a way that it wasn't when it was still firmware 5.x...

i just tried to load noble house onto my libra colour and calibre said my firmware was not supported. I had just sync'ed and dl the 6.0 i assume along with Beta version of something. I will try a few other books, but I had to load this book outside of Calibre.

No, it's using the TENG engine for epubs. RMSDK is only used for ADEPT locked books.
