My guess is if a new Kobo Reader was announced, it would come with v5 of the firmware. So would you go for an unpatched firmware with a new Kobo or stick with patched on your existing Kobo?

Heh, difficult to say. It would depend on what the v5 offers and whether I can stand it without patching. Of course I can probably install KOReader, if unpatched stock really proves to be hard to swallow.

Same here. I succeeded in losing two Sages in two weeks (one my original 5 year old one and the second the second hand replacement I bought) and now I can't even get a second hand one any more. I ordered an Elipsa instead, but I still want an upgraded Sage.

We won't know if KOReader would work or not on the new Kobo without having to be reworked. Also, NickelMenu may or may not need updating.

And then there are the patches. Will any of them work or not?

Well, I'm probably not going to jump off my sofa and run to buy it on the day it's released. For one thing, I'd need to save some money. So I'll wait for a while and read reviews.

I don't know what I'd do if Kobo does release new BW Readers. I'll just wait and see what Kobo is up to.

If nothing else, a method for launching KOReader would have to be developed. NickelMenu did not work with v5 firmware when I tested it on my Libra Colour.

As for the patches? The chances of them working without quite a bit of work is unlikely.

It sounds like v5 of the firmware is going to be a real PIA if it gets released for older Kobo.

If the Elipsa2 is the only device, 10,3", within a stylus, my only guess is that the mail might being a reference to that?
And my saddest two cents that the newest way may be - again - an AI powered device; and my guess - sad, again - is that "can it be that, as the AI might really have an handle as a kinda of monopoly on RAM prices, and them offered some pieces cheaper if having an AI that's indenture"?
Sorry but it's the only thing that comes in my mind.

It sounds very much like I'll be nursing my Sage and Libra colour while saving up for a PocketBook 7.8
