I don't know of anywhere I've shopped for eBooks that I cannot download the ACSM file more then once.

There was one online shop I made one purchase from that did that before they went out of business. Their .acsm files were set to expire in 47 hours. I was on a family vacation and did not have the chance to do the download within that time period. I ended up re-purchasing my only purchase from them from Kobo where the expiry period is even shorter but you can re-download the .acsm file without needing someone to manually reset your account.

From the email thread between us:
Code:
  <purchase>2022-05-01T00:29:51-04:00</purchase>
<expiration>2022-05-03T23:29:51-04:00</expiration>
From a Kobo download just to get a fresh .acsm file:
Code:
  <purchase>2026-08-04T17:04:43+00:00</purchase>
<expiration>2026-08-04T23:04:43+00:00</expiration>

The expiry on Kobo is no problem as you can download again.

However I always download and process immediately. Even though Rakuten owns Kobo, their server might go out (and has done for hours) for days, or Rakuten could shutter it with little warning.
