You will not have the All actions button on the Status bar if L&F->Main interface->Show actions button is unchecked (and I think it defaults to unchecked) - look at my screen shot in post #27.

I'm not sure I follow: you wish the plugin places alongside the Jobs item in status bar, a Preferences clickable item to open Calibre main Preferences dialog?

Please read post #27 again - I added some emoji's which might help explain where I'm coming from.

It's about Preferences and Kovid's requirement that it be discoverable (i.e. visible) on the main interface either in the main toolbar or menubar. That "Preferences" button top left irritates me, I never click it, so as far as I'm concerned it's a waste of space.

So, my modest proposal is that Preferences be nailed to the status bar
