When I bought my GL4 last month the local store was out of stock so I had to order it online. I went to buy a cover and I couldn’t find the Nook display in the store. I asked at customer service and was directed to a small display off to the side of the checkout counter. Certainly not a prominent spot. It makes me really sad. I have loved all my Nooks (well, except the GL4e) but a don’t see much of a future for them. It would be nice if they would sell to someone who had a clue.

If they sell, it probably won't solve any of the issues we have unfortunately. It was the end of the road for UK NOOK owners. Someone buying it and improving the software is unlikely. They'd just buy the customer list and let us download our books like what happened with Sony.

Though I dream and hope for the brand to be sold off to thrive.

Imagine:
no more partitions limiting sideloaded books, ability to download your purchases, access to foreign language dictionaries, wikipedia, a translation service, exporting annotations, text to speech!

You know, basically all the stuff that basic Android and KOReader allows already on the device!

But their Nook business is clearly derelict at this point. It's a shame, since it seems to be decent hardware.
It's a shame. Your wife could be reading with a Libra 2 instead of a so-so (at best) nook.
