I followed the instructions in this Reddit post and now metadata downloads are working fine for me. It's a rather old post, but it is still working.

I've be trying to get the Amazon metadata plugin to work like this Title: Spider-Man ids: amazon:B010OS8BQW Author: Unknown or Author: Stan Lee Code:
calibre, version 8.5.0
ERROR: No matches found: <p>Failed to find any books that match your search. Try making the search <b>less specific</b>. For example, use only the author's last name and a single distinctive word from the title.<p>To see the full log, click "Show details".
Running identify query with parameters:
{'title': 'Spider-Man', 'authors': ['Stan Lee'], 'identifiers': {'amazon': 'B010OS8BQW'}, 'timeout': 30}

If I paste the query 'https://www.amazon.com/s/?search-alias=aps&unfiltered=1&sort=relevanceexprank&field-keywords=B010OS8BQW' into Firefox, it returns exactly one match, which is what I expected. For some reason the search plugin is getting a 503, though. Also, I can find the book info here -> https://www.amazon.com/s?k=B010OS8BQ...qw%2Caps%2C179 but Calibre cannot find it. It returns an HTTP Error 503 instead. Is there a setting I can change to get past the HTTP Error 503? |

I haven't been able to grab metadata from amazon in about a year. There seems to be no fix. :/

One way you get at the setting: Start the Metadata Editor: click Configure Download Metadata: Select Amazon (also observe it must be ticked to use): Click Configure Selected sourse. You should be at (image) This is where you set which COUNTRY and what to use for servers. |

Doesn't really matter as most metadata you download has errors and you have to manually double check it anyway, Just do it manually like you would have to do when you double checked.

amazon isnt working anymore it presents captchas after one or two requests so not much point in adding another country.

For what it may be worth, Amazon using Amazon Canada's servers allows me to make ~8-10 individual requests before deciding I'm too annoying.

I gave up on using amazon.com when I found that a few of my books from amazon.ca had ASINs that were different from books of the same title/author on amazon.com. This produced some rather strange metadata downloads when using the default metadata download.

This started happening to me this week too. It worked previously.
Specifically it finds the exact URL, and then tries to use a query URL. Why would it bother with that if it had the exact URL? Anyway, I guess 503 error falls into this capcha situation? It worked for me last week, but this week I am getting this a lot. No change to my settings. Code:
calibre, version 8.12.0
ERROR: No matches found: <p>Failed to find any books that match your search. Try making the search <b>less specific</b>. For example, use only the author's last name and a single distinctive word from the title.<p>To see the full log, click "Show details".
Running identify query with parameters:
