I prefer epub, so I import it into calibre, and convert. Any cleaning up I do with Sigil.

Reading on the iPhone isn't TERRIBLE. But it's not great. Especially when compared to any of the Kindles.

Oh, right! Did you see the LJ comm for fanfiction as ebooks? If you're going to oodles of work to make your own ebooks then maybe the the lady(?) running it would like a hand.

I was discussing it with someone who then running around madly arm-waving about how it's a gross violation of fanfiction writers' intent to have their works available in ebook friendly format. The mouth-frothing made me desist from offering my own help

I already use my touch with Stanza, because of the wonderful "night" theme (white character on black- but you can customize it to any colour you want). Not a terrible experience (in fact if I begin to have a migraine I use this method for reading). Now, on the other hand, having an app per book on the menu would drive me berserk- Stanza is neat and compact, runs its collections on its own and won't suffocate your desktop(s) with icons.

She's Amalthia here, and we're in touch. We exchange fanfic recs sometimes (or at least, I read hers; I'm sure she'd read mine if I wrote them more than once every six or seven months), and swap notes on formatting.

Some fanfic writers absolutely don't want their works available offline; they want them in forums where they can get comments, which is their only payment, and in places where they've got some control over who reads them. However, some are happy to have ebooks made, and some have CC licensed their works.

I've seen quite a number of ebooks (okay, pdfs, but still availables on an ebook reader) on the indeedsir community. Possibly also a question of fandom customs?

True, comments are a fanfic writer's lifeblood. Hmm, can one e-mail from a Kindle or other wireless readers? I wonder if a link in the bottom of the ebook would facilitate feedback.

Now you've got me thinking about how to make it easy to feedback from an ebook! An e-mail address at the start and end of the story, in the metadata, a reminder at the end of it -- i.e. I have Amalthia's formatted ebook of Resonant's Transfigurations and there's an e-mail address at the end of it, handily. :shifty look: Which reminds me to feedback, now...
