Part 2:

To address the topic of this thread, most people I know are not readers. They are not at all interested in my device beyond the initial question of "What else can it do?" Since it isn't an annoying "chirp" type walkie-talkie, they are no longer interested.

In public spaces, I have noticed that women do not even glance at it, but men will glance, glance again, stare hard and try to figure it out, and stare some more. I'll shoot a friendly smile, and they will either speak up or look away embarrassed.

My retina doc was fascinated by my EBW1150 for the whole year and finally bought his wife a Kindle. I'm pretty sure she doesn't usually get to read it because he has it.

Checking into the hosp on Tues for surgery, the admissions clerk put away a raggedy library book when we walked into the cubicle. It was a fantasy book, I forget the title. I smiled, whipped out my 505, and demonstrated the fun facts. I left her with this website address, and I would not be surprised if she is not already lurking and learning, because she was very interested.

My best friend and cubicle-mate is an even more voracious reader than I. When I got my 505 for Xmas, I gave her my EBW1150. She's very happy!

I do most of my reading at home, but have taken my PRS-505 out and about a few times. Most people who do ask are politely curious as to what the device is.

Not sure if I've made any converts yet.

My boss saw mine and got one for his wife. Now apparantly a ton of her coworkers have gotten them too. I also got three other coworkers to get one, bought one for my mom, and got my stepdad a Kindle.

From time to time I do visit my clients at their offices (well some of my clients -- the ones in California seem to think email and telephone and FedEx is all they need [and they are right.]) Back to the story. One day I'm cooling my heels waiting for the President to finish a meeting so he can sign a few Government forms. One techie notices me reading on my Sony and asks what it is. I show him. He drags his boss and a few other techies to see it. There I am demonstrating the Sony to a about 12 people in the waiting area. Long story short, they bought a bunch of them for the company and I (with Bob Rivers and Sony's help too, thanks) converted their field manuals to the Sony.

By the way, the President of the company bought one for himself.
