It's really tricky when it comes to returning books for them. But now you at least do have to have a receipt to exchange (important because a lot of people were returning books from other stores for credit). I think the problem is they really don't have a lot of experience in electronics, unlike Target or Walmart, and to top it off they are having an extremely hard time competing with B&N and Amazon (B&N keeps outbidding them for new locations so they can't get good locations), so they really have to penny pinch right now or they will close. |

It took a bit, but Borders came through. The GM at the store I bought my reader got an authorization for a return from corporate.
So yes, Borders is once again in my good graces. ![]() |

I was at Borders (San Francisco bay area) on Sunday, checked their readers display. 700 was attached to base, next to a dead 505 (hadn't been charged for long time). You couldn't turn the light on because the bottom part was attached to the base, no way to lift or move it. Not a good display.
I remembered this thread and asked them about their return policy for the reader. "As long as you do not authorize the reader with Sony software, we will exchange or take it back within 14 days". It didn't make much sense, if I authorize it, then I can de-authorize too. What does it have to do with returns/exchanges? Or how can they check it? Then the lady starting promoting the 700. The best part: she kept saying it had an accelerometer and would automatically turn from portrait to landscape. When I mentioned that I had the reader for more than 2 months, without an accelerometer, she said I didn't know how to use it ![]() Jesse, I'm glad you were able to return it. |

>>accelerometer, she said I didn't know how to use it actually she may have confused the accelerometer for pedometer thinking the page count was a calorie or step counter for when you read while walking Last edited by Server; 01-29-2009 at 10:07 PM. |
