I'm with June. During the day, the reader is within a hand's reach from me. When I'm in transit, my reader is either in my backpack or I'm reading from it. Actually, since I have two readers (Kindle and Sony PRS-505) and since I don't want to play favorites, this applies to both.

At night, depending on what I am currently reading, one of the readers may be taken to bed with me. As I begin to fall asleep, I close the reader and put it into the headboard, setting my glasses on top of the reader so they'll be easy to find when I wake and am ready to read again.

Mine is usually on my nightstand shelf snug and safe in it's BookArmor case when I'm not reading.

Hi MJ

I keep my Cybook in an envelope in my work bag. It's nice and snug between my morning newspaper. When at home I always keep it on top of my printer in my computer unit. BTW I'm the third person on the planet who doesn't own an ipod. Have a Creative Zen which I love.

My reader lives in whatever room in the house I happen to be in. I leave a room, it goes with me whether I am actually reading it at the time or not! Like Fizzywater, I also bought a purse large enough to handle my 700. Sometimes I think I would be happiest if it was surgically attached to my hand!!

Bookshelf - what a surprise. High enough so the kids can't reach it.

In my gadget bag (which is actually an old East German Army Map Case that I keep on me at all times if I am up and going. It holds my electronic life, my Reader in its homebrew case, my iPod, my phone, and another bag that I bought at Target that I use as an insert, containing my PDA, GPS, flash drives, headphones, pad and pen, and a multitool. The bag also holds my Bluetooth earpiece when I am not wearing it, a pen, pencil and stylus set in brushed steel, a travel-size bottle of ibuprofen and a tin box of adhesive bandages (Currently black ones with skull & crossbones on them).

This is worn on my hip unless I am with a customer and them it is hanging on a steel hook at my workstation.

Mega-Dork. Yep that's me!

Do you keep a backup of you electronic life gadget bag off-site in secure storage somewhere, in case of loss, theft or bag-corruption?

Sadly, no. I don't have the money to have redundant copies. We do, however, have three Readers in the house, so if something did happen, I would still have access to a Reader. Sadly, most of the other gadgets are out-of-date items so they wouldn't be that expensive to replace if necessary.

I don't have a protective case for the PRS-505 yet, so it does not leave my apartment. It hangs out on top of my nightstand (which is, incidentally, the top of a bookshelf as my bed is lofted) when I'm asleep and on an end-table next to my recliner during the day.

The VR Stream is more rugged and goes with me to work every day, and also accompanies me on walks and errands. When not in use, I hang it in its carrying case from my bedrails or off the end-table.

In my Crumpler bag if I'm on the move, or on top of my PC case being charged if I'm at home.
