Overdrive will Stop Supplying Fictionwise on 30 January 2009

Well.. I'm losing two books.

The Blood Knight by Greg Keyes - LIT
The Lies of Locke Lamora - PDF

The eReader is probably an improvement over my PDF version because of the tiny text problems with Adobe. I bought this book when the 505 got a firmware update, hoping it would be legible.

I shot FW an email thanking them for being the most customer friendly company I have ever dealt with. =)

I had twenty two (of way too many). Not positive what it really means other than you should download now and keep a back up copy. The mobipocket PID won't change so they won't go away from a personal library until deleted, right?

True enough, so long as you own the same device and don't lose the eBook the eBooks you purchased can be read.

YOWCHEE MOMMA!! I just checked again and I had 64!!! Serves me right for being so cocky earlier! Thankfully, I have already downloaded them and did what I needed to do to read them on my devices!!! Just one more reason why I am so happy I found MobileRead!

On your bookshelf, two of the sorting options are "OVERDRIVE...".

Has anyone else had this problem: I have 64 books that are expiring but only 49 of them have replacements. I thought they were going to replace all of them.

And as long as you have the PID…well, there's always mobidedrm.

I don't seem to have any Overdrive books at all. I'm actually kinda disappointed. I wish I could get all my secure mobi books replaced by eReader copies.

I have 10 expiring, but only one replaced. Go figure.

in the faq, it says :

Why are you not able to substitute every single affected file with eReader format?

In some cases we are simply still tracking down the publisher to obtain permission. In some cases the eBook in question was not yet converted to eReader format. We are diligently working through each of these situations. Over the coming weeks, you may see more and more of your expiring Overdrive purchases replaced with Secure eReader substitutes. We have already added replacements for over 80% of the affected purchases. Our goal is to provide eReader replacements for all affected files.

I had 23/358 Mobipocket files affected, currently 18 have replacements available. Thankfully I had just recently downloaded all my secure eBooks and 'saved' them for use on any of my Mobipocket ready devices.
