Collections are not folders. A single book can be in multiple collections at the same time. For example Science Fiction, Space Opera, and Unread.

I find it easier and faster to manage collections using the Content & Devices section of the web site. Unfortunately getting the changes to sync to my Kindles has occasionally been problematic.

And it requires the books to be in the Amazon cloud. Can't do that with books sideloaded with USB.

Books no. 1-10 are added to collection -A

Books no. 11-20 are added to collection no. B

Books no. 21-30 are added to collection no. C

I'm now building collection D, and it shows me the whole list of 100 books including the ones already added to A and B, making the process longer than expected. I have to scroll through the whole 100 books instead of just 70 books.

Here, the Robert Greene books are already added to another collection, yet I have to scroll past them.

Pasting the link separately of the image as well as it's not getting embedded somehow.

I would send the books to the Kindle in batches corresponding to each folder. And when adding them to the collections I would sort them by most recent. That should make it easier to group them together.

I have about 80 collections on my kindle. In my experience you have to maintain them manually through either the kindle or through Manage Your Contents and Devices. I don’t know of any automatic way to do it.

Alright. Now I'm managing the books through 'Manage Your Contents and Devices' by visiting my account on my laptop in a browser. Much faster. Thanks! Dragging and dropping the books and then adding them to collections.

I only have one kindle device. I shouldn't get any sync problems. As far as I know, sync problems happen between at least two kindle devices or more.

There have been several reports of issues with collections when syncing when the original poster had only one Kindle and no Kindle apps.

That's sad and quite unbelievable. A 10th generation model of a gadget with such a minimal and focused level functionality manufactured by such a giant company has bugs for file syncing.

Sadly, folder navigation is a relic of the 1980s. Give me a decent search interface any day since it takes a lot fewer clicks/taps to find a book. I used to use folders to manage my ebooks. Multiple authors, series, subtitles, etc. made for a lot of "fun" and learning more than I ever wanted to know about the various flavours of links on multiple OS.

How do you handle an ebook anthology with 28 stories so 28 authors, an editor who is also an author and an editor who is not an author so you can locate the ebook from any of the authors or editors? If you want to find a book that is part of a series? Or an ebook where the title is generic but the subtitle identifies the ebook? Or where the original author's name is still on a series but the books are being credited to other authors?

IMNSHO, one of the biggest improvements to KOReader's UI was adding the ability to search the metadata.calibre file.

To me it is astonishing that KOReader's core development team still refuses to create (as alternative to archaic File Manger view of the world) a whole library viewing mode that would be metadata based and function if not similarly to Kindle's or Kobo's default home / library than at least something based on KOReader existing History thing (in cover mode).

Even when they already have most of needed information populated inside "bookinfo_cache.sqlite3" database.

And I don't really see reasons why centralized metadata storage and metadata based search couldn't be made so it can be used regardless of how the book was transfered (Calibre Wireless device, downloaded from OPDS catalog, transfered using any of Cloud Storage options, USB transfer... ) onto KOReader's home folder. There is no logic in still only using Calibre created and transfered metadata JSON file and no logic in having to parse huge JSON file when they have already started using a SQLite database in other places and for other metadata-related reasons.

Looks like they are working on something like this.

Desertcart is an international dropshipping/parcel-forwarding site with inflated prices and a terrible reputation.

Thanks for sharing. I'm already past my 7 days limit for returning the device. I have adjusted my mind around Kindle restrictions. Managed to build collections quickly through the send-to-kindle browser method.
