I always see stacks of his books at library book sales, all wrapped up and never opened.

Well, if one's books were really bad maybe one might try inventing a new religion. One could require all their followers to read one's books to reach whatever afterlife or perfection one offered.

No, wait...

Clambake anyone?

I've read some of Hubbard's work... Battlefield Earth for one. I bought it from a used bookstore for $3... The irony of it is that they wouldn't buy it back. The book started off well, but it really dragged and collapsed at the end. By the middle, I was reading it to finish the book.

Overall, he's not bad an author - but he's not particularly good.

My wife chides me for messing with their borg drones... I like to take their stress tests and mess with their primitive biofeedback systems... While I find amusement with it, apparently it's bad. I don't know why...

Every time we walk by the Scientology building, the conversation's the same...

"Can I..."
"No."
"But..."
"No."
"Just five minutes..."
"NO!"

I'm the other way around. I decided he was a terrible writer long before I heard of Scientology.

The cult stuff just confirmed my opinion that he's a nut case.
