Not so much that I am personally offended, more a matter of wanting MobileRead to remain as a resource.

Whether you are given, download or whatever other methods of obtaining an ebook you can think of, unless the ebook is in the public domain or the rights holder has allowed the ebook be freely shared, that is an act of ebook piracy.

MobileRead does not condone ebook piracy. If nothing else, this keeps the lawyers away.

Sorry but I can't see how showing you have 681 books in your Amazon library has anything to do with having other books that were not legally obtained. Apples and oranges. Or is that give and take and tea-leaf...

A quick check says that I have 1683 books in my Kobo library, 1561 in my Amazon library, 862 in my Baen library(*) and 189 in my Google Play library. I can't see how this entitles me to pirate an ebook.

* For the Baen library, those are the books I've purchased on their website and does not include the ones I downloaded from their Free Library or copied from the CD-ROMs that were bound into some of their hardcover releases. Those add quite a few more to my Baen ebook collection.
