Mine are to carry on losing weight, finally get to the bottom of my hormone problems, manage my money better, and do more sewing and jewellery making

Keeping my list simple this year, I only have 3 items on it:
  1. Keep my job!
  2. Update the SJB, and spend some money on more aggressive promotion
  3. Get healthier.

I should probably add "Improve my writing," but I'll be lucky if I manage the other resolutions...

My goal for the year is to put all of my digital photos on an external hard drive and upload them to an online photo storage site. Right now, the photos are on 2 computers, several regular and mini CDs, and SD cards.

Many years ago I made a New Year's resolution that I've stuck to very faithfully. That was "To never make another New Year's resolution".

But the question is, have you stuck to it?

I regularly read around 9-10 books per month. Whenever we take a long trip in the car, I'll typically read more books. (It's a combination of not having to work and being away from the Internet.) So far, I've read 15 books in December and I expect to finish one or two more before midnight on New Year's Eve. In addition to the length of the book, there's also the "readability" factor. Some books are just easier to breeze right through than others, even if they're relatively long in terms of number of pages or number of words. I rarely read short stories, though I've read two science fiction short story collections this year.

I don't generally do resolutions - if I want to feel disappointed in myself I'll just ring my mother.

However, choked out of me like wringing out a wet towel, I'll put in:
  1. Read more
  2. Write more
  3. Relax
  4. Get Adrian and Brian Jr. jobs in a travelling circus, have them lose their way in Sydney selling their bodies at "the wall" to bad and sad men passing by in big german cars and forgetting all about it in a drug-farked haze on a dance floor at 3am somewhere on the Golden Mile, see them drop in and out of love with a 130kg bear showing more skin than leather and who "treats them right" especially after the "safe word" is uttered, then find salvation and inspiration in a drunken antipodwiccan preacher-bettong who holds church under the railway viaduct at Woolloomooloo, start a punk rock cover band called The Zany Carters which fails to ever find a paying gig (or at least one that pays in more than "open bar" terms), collect multiple addictions with matching sores, kill a drug-dealer's standover man with bike chains and daisies and frame the dealer for it, escape prosecution by hiding away in the undercarriage of the Indian Pacific train and fall from it into solitary madness mid-Nullarbor, get consumed by a Dreamtime itself gone insane and clawing its way in at the edges, get spit out ("spit", if they're lucky) and washed up on a Sunshine Coast beach clean and mean but still keen, and then get them each to sell their story to me for a clean towel and a glass and twirly straw full of the good stuff, and finally join me in the spa to brainstorm about what to do tomorrow.
  5. Lose some weight

Item 4 will be easy, but we'll see how the rest go.

Cheers,
Marc
