I know I am a bit late to this. Just noticed this thread. I can't seem to update my Oasis 10 gen. Its the latest one with the warm light. In all the years I have manually updated my kindles I have never not been able to do it. I keep downloading the file. Plug my kindle to the laptop and put the file into the main kindle thingie. As always. I have tried like 10 times now and the update your kindle is still greyed out every time. I restarted my kindle, used a different usb cable, still nada.
Is there some issue with this update or what could it be? Just baffled at this. I should add I am on 5.14.3.2 and trying to get to this 5.15.1. Its listed on the amazon website as available and it downloads to my computer. The Oasis has just over 5 gig free space Last edited by Atunah; 10-12-2022 at 07:46 PM. |

@Atunah, if you are sure that you downloaded the correct update file, and placed in the correct folder (E:/ or /Volumes/Kindle/), the "Update Your Kindle" menu item still grays out, then just reboot the device once. During the restart, it will install the firmware.

Any tips on how to set it to this while converting an epub to azw3? And I guess if I do that, cover will show but it will be listed as a document and not a book? I will have to see if it's worth it or not. So far I am converting to kfx and sideloading and that always works, but it is much heavier to convert. |

I can do "send to device" instead and use reading list instead without synch but just as a note of what I want to sideload, though if you think that fixes it. I will test that, next time I send books, if there is a difference between azw3 books from reading list synch and from send to device. |

There are things you can do. After you've sent the eBooks to your Kindle and ejected and let the covers disappear, you can plug your Kindle back into the computer and your Calibre library to have the covers fixed. The covers will be fixed the next time you plugin your Kindle to your library. The other thing you can do is keep WiFi off. Keeping WiFi off is the best solution for battery performance because after you eject, your Kindle is going to phone home as well as using more battery by just having WiFi on. |

Thank you.
I always have wifi off, I turn it on if I specifically want to do something, but otherwise it is off almost always, always when sideloading books. About the reconnect, I know, but I am afraid it might be bad for battery and the new books are most visible and it would bug me to have the new juicy books without cover till I need to charge the kindle again. So far converting to kfx is working for me, and while it takes longer, I can keep doing it. I am not converting massive amounts of books, and typesetting and page numbers might be a bit more stable also with kfx. |

I do not turn on and off wifi, I keep the kindle on airplane mode all the time and only very sporadically turn it on, and by sporadically I mean every month or couple of months for an hour or so, in case of updates. I prefer to sideload always, I do not like the browser. The azw3 books which showed cover had mobi-asin and/or amazon identifiers as well. |

This happened to me three times now ever since updating to the latest firmware.
I'll try to go back my library but nothing happens. Clicking the library button on the top left of the screen does nothing, and after a while, that option just completely disappears. The options aren't also working. They act as if I'm already at my library but the screen is still displaying my book, and I'm even able to switch pages. The only way I can get out is to restart by pressing the power button until the restart option pops up. It's not that big of a deal, but it is annoying when it happens since restarting e-ink devices takes a while. |

That has happened to me also. Just once, since the new update, it had never happened before though. I had not connected the new firmware with it. Interesting. |

I'm so sad that they stopped giving love to the Voyage.
