No. That's not it. It's the built-in calibre code it uses to render the jacket content that produces a document with no declaration/doctype. The plugin would need to take it upon itself to detect whether the Epub is version 2 or 3 and insert the relevant declaration/doctype. All just to satisfy Sigil. I doubt it's going to happen. Countless other calibre utilities (Polish, Beautify, etc...) would just strip them out again anyway.
To be clear: I don't believe the plugin code is doing anything wrong. It's propertly using the API it's given for the program it's a part of. It's maintainer is not obligated in any way to treat jacket and cover markup differently than the calibre norm to satisfy Sigil. Last edited by DiapDealer; 09-16-2022 at 08:31 PM. |

Yes agreed. There is nothing wrong or incorrect about the current modify epub plugin.
That said prepending the doctype in that code is easy to do if anyone wants to create their own version of that plugin for their own use (and its gpl3 license allows that). Last edited by KevinH; 09-16-2022 at 09:29 PM. |

Or just load the finished ePub into Sigil, let Sigil fix the doctype, save and be there you go.
