That doesn't work in Windows, the File open selector only offers All files, HTML, and OPF. If I use the All files option to open an epub I get a blank window.

I think he meant to say .opf or .xhtml file. PageEdit doesn't open epub archives.

I haven't upgraded Sigil or PE since 1.7.0, when I saw Kevin's post I hoped 1.9.10 could.

Any chance it might happen in 2.0.

I doubt it. Opening, editing and saving epub zip archives has never really been on the todo list for PageEdit.

Fair 'nuff. PE isn't advertised as an EPUB editor… I checked :lol:

So far, nothing radical, just evolution. Qt6 support (already present but it will become the release version), updated MathJax support (just added), updated bs4 version, hopefully some more tools to help consolidate multiple css files down to one, some templating support for new / empty css and xhtml files (already added).

So the big thing is Qt6 based builds and updates that position Sigil's codebase to continue to be viable long into the future.

I'll stick with 1.7.0, my main use of Sigil these days is as a bridge to PE.

You might actually find useful the new ReplaceAll Dry Run tool, and the Replacement Chooser tool that comes with 1.9.10.

FYI, PageEdit will move to Qt6 at the same time that Sigil does (support is already in master).

When trying to insert a link when the text contains chevrons <>, the insertion fails and text can be deleted.

Do you have a problem if you add in the link while in code view and not in PageEdit and then view this in PageEdit?

We will need a lot more info about this bug in order to recreate it.

1. Exactly what does the xhtml code look like before the insertion?
2. Where in the xhtml text is the insertion cursor when trying to insert a link?
3. Are they actual Chevrons or the xhtml escaped chars that indicate a tag (ie the less than < and greater than >)?
4. Exactly what code is "lost"?
5. Is it actually lost or just xml escaped and so does not appear?

The link text cannot contain angle brackets (or less-than/greater-than signs). They're not valid in xhtml, they need to be represented by entities.
