Among the widespread cases of this I've reported as a Kobo beta tester to the developers are the ones in this very thread, plus the ones in this thread and this thread as well as this thread over on Reddit.
And we all understand how hard it is to pin down the cause of sporadic difficulties, @MGlitch, thanks, which is why every report about problems with firmware 4.31.19086 is helpful. As @frostschutz has discovered, for instance, at least some of the problems, at least on the Libra 2, seem to be related to changes made in Wi-Fi handling in that firmware. |

We’ve seen Kobo do fast pulls of firmware and fast turn arounds for fixes. We know they’ve gotten reports that there are issues with 4.31. That we haven’t seen an update and that 4.31 is still available would seem to indicate that Kobo also aren’t seeing a wide spread of the problems being reported. I should have seen problems, I’ve side loaded every book on my Libra 2. And yet I’ve seen zero issues beyond occasionally needing to tap/swipe the screen because the buttons aren’t responding. Which is resolved once I tap or swipe the screen. Tl;dr the posts you’ve linked are a lot of noise and relatively little signal. Yes there are issues but the number of affected people is misrepresented. |

@MGlitch: Delighted you're having no problems. Yay for you!
For the many others who are having problems on their Libra 2 under 4.31, especially those, like me, who don't routinely sideload but rather sync via Wi-Fi directly from the Kobo store, my second day of testing the solution @frostschutz proposed -- activating developer mode by searching for "devmodeon" and then selecting "Force Wifi on" -- again seems to have cleared up my difficulties. I shall continue to test, but the difference in responsiveness is huge, and I have had no crashes or lockups since. |
