You can set a directory to not be searched by nickel but unlike the old days when using a . as the first character of the directory name to make it hidden was all that was needed, the current setup requires you to play with the configuration file to tell Nickel which hidden directories are ignorable.

The problem for me and likely quite a few other people is that when you have loaded a few thousand books many of which have multiple authors, trying to set up a directory structure to make finding a specific book easy compared to using a search is not a worthwhile use of my time.

On my Clara HD which currently has ~13,000 books loaded, it takes few keystrokes to narrow down the search to a specific book compared to trying to scroll through the directory structure I once used. Say I'm looking for a book in the Vigilante Magical Librarians series, when I type "vig" in the search box, 7 search results are visible and I simply tap the one I want. If I want to search for a recent Chicago University Press freebie called Disruptive Acts: The New Woman in Fin-de-Siecle France, I can enter either "dis" from the title or "fin" from the subtitle and the result for either the title or subtitle is there. Compare this to the unjoy of scrolling through a directory structure to look for a specific book.

Aye you are right, totally sounds better with the search (tho koreader at least do have file search which is something similar), but the pain you describe loading the library is also scary, will continue monitoring the topic to see if there is going to be some movement, I don't have the device anyway
