I have a PDF where I used the pen to make some marks and highlighting. I would like to export that PDF to my dropbox account so I could retrieve it on my work laptop. Is that possible?

Which bamboo stylus? The one for bamboo AES devices? (Like LG laptops?) or the Bamboo stylus for generic touch screen devices?

From what I understand if you sideloaded the PDF it should be possible to sync (the ideal situation is if you synced it FROM dropbox it will sync back to it.

You can also do it manually by connecting to your computer. From Kobo's help page:

On your computer, open the folder named ‘KOBOeReader’.
Look for the PDF files that you'd like to export, and drag them onto your computer's desktop.
Once you open the PDF file, you'll see all the notes that you made using your Kobo Stylus.

here's the link.

One quirk about the Elipsa on Nickel is that the Home screen doesn't create shortcuts to recently-accessed notebooks. Not only is this baffling from a design standpoint, it also means an extra tap on "My Notebooks" every time I switch from KOReader and back, since almost all of my reading is done on KOReader.

Also, the battery life on the Elipsa is noticeably shorter compared to my previous Kobo devices. I use the device heavily for PDFs, CBZs and note-taking. I feel like I have to charge it up quite often.

Other than that, I really enjoy this device.

I don't see why it is baffling. The device is still primarily an ereader that can take notes, not a note taker that happens to be able to read books. They are still putting the emphasis on reading. Maybe that should change. And if you think so, make sure you tell Kobo. They do listen and make changes where they agree with the suggestion and can implement it.

Potato, potatoe.

Their marketing certainly seems aimed at notetaking? Visiting their product page, they start off with the notetaking stuff, and then about half way down they mention "Enjoy benefits found on all Kobo eReaders". The page does start "One ereader, endless ideas", but the first paragraph states:
Quote:
Put conventional paper aside and think bigger with an intuitive note-taking experience and an expansive 10.3” touchscreen. Use the Kobo Stylus to make notes in eBooks and PDFs*. Plus, you can create your own notebooks, where you can instantly convert your notes to clean typed text, and export them off your device as needed. With 32GB of storage, you'll be able to carry more than your book bag can handle. And when you're ready for a break, simply close the SleepCover to protect Kobo Elipsa and put it to sleep. Kobo Elipsa is your book, notebook, and bookstore combined, bundled with everything you need to make your ideas a reality.
Not to mention that just about every picture shows notes, doodles, ...

And you'll note that they mention notes in books as the first thing. And only one of those pictures isn't showing notes in a book.

That's a strange argument. It's also not primarily a device for reading Pocket articles nor a dedicated device for buying Kobo eBooks, yet both of these features (and more) may get their own shortcuts on the Home screen.

Got my elipsa yesterday. I find that about 20 min after opening an advanced notebook, the response time when writting gets worse and worse, and I have to reboot the device to bring things back to normal. Anyone else seeing this?

But Pocket only appears in the bottom right corner as one of the items that cycles through that spot. The individual articles do not appear on the home screen. So the treatment of individual Pocket article and individual notebooks is roughly the same.

I stand by my statement. I don't think it is baffling not to put the notebooks on the front page as books. But, I can see why some people would think it is useful. What I don't know is if it is something that Kobo considered and rejected, considered and have postponed for a later update, considered and decided it would cause other issues on the home screen or never even thought of it at all. But, if it is something you think should be done, then tell Kobo. If you don't tell them, they won't know.

I like it a lot, and I am not sure there is anything I would call a glitch, but the UI feels unfinished in some ways. Bizarre not to be able to use the stylus on epubs, absurd that notebooks have no option to change the size of squares/lines in the background, while PDF view has no way of changing pen settings.

I hope they invest in getting these things fixed.

While I agree in general, I do have hope they will invest in it. They do seem to be doubling down on the pen given that the Sage also supports it and the two new readers support bluetooth so hopefully it will be properly integrated into the Elipsa as well.
