There's that, of course. It's not really an issue for me as I never ever broke or even scratched the display of any device, be it tablet or phone. Maybe I've just been too lucky and regret it later. I mean, I don't even get why people put screen protectors on their phones

The weakest part of an eink device is not the screen itself, but the substrate inside the screen. It breaks much more easily than the topmost part of the screen. The glass or plastic covering the screen is usually unbroken, but the substrate inside can still break, if you drop the reader or put something heavy on it. So bear that in mind. Eink needs gentler handling than your average tablet or phone.

I don't know whether it has changed, but a few years ago the header and footer on kobos took up so much space that a 6.8" kobo showed less text than a 6" kindle with similar font settings unless a configuration file on the kobo was edited.

In fairness, JSWolf was referring to the plastic substrate on the Forma and his point is valid.

You can now disable the header, footer or both on an unmodified Kobo. There's a setting for it.

Yes, I have a storage unit which receive parcels, I'm also a prime subscriber so I don't pay postage on Prime items.

Ah, I didn't know that! Thanks!

Amazon Spain seems to be expanding its portuguese operation since Brexit, as a lot of us used to order from co.uk. Still sucks though, I'm also a Prime member because that's the only way they'll let me pay extra for express shipment. Can't order a Kindle, no ebooks, no fast free shiping just the option to pay more

One (slight) warning. Years ago I bought a Kobo Aura from eBay that came from FNAC and they had their store logo as the sleep screen and you couldn't change it to book cover in the settings.

Not sure if that is still true. If it is, it very easy to change, even if you are completely computer illiterate.

Still true, but, it is easy to workaround by editing the affiliate.conf file.

I did up buying a Forma from Fnac, they were running some exclusive online sale yesterday and it was 20% off. I'll be picking it up latter today so I'll check that out!

Regarding protection for these ereaders, is it worth buying a case? I was leaning more towards a sleeve if I'm going to carry it inside a bag and have it naked when in the hand...

Congrats on your new Forma!

If you're going to carry it in the bag, a case or cover would be a good idea. Personally I keep my readers in sleeves when not in use, but then I only use them at home.

A sleeve should be fine for a Forma unless you're particularly careless/prone to abusing it. It's got a flexible plastic substrate.

What's the setting to prevent the affiliate from being changed back? You gave it once, but I cannot easily find it.

A case it something you should have. A sleep case specifically.

Yes, because the power button is crap.
And that bothered me so much that I keep the device on my basement shelf.
Now I use a Likebook Mars (at half the price).

That's not correct about the power button. It's because it's a lot more convenient to have a sleep cover. My power button is not crap but I prefer the sleep cover.
