It's 30 months since I bought my first Kobo, and in that time the number of sales my Kobo store has had on readers exactly equals the number of times snow has fallen on the Sun. These are the pricing developments of Nia, Clare, Libra and Forma as I did encounter.
As can be seen, the Nia never was reduced in price (steady at 99€), the Clara was regularly discounted (I picked mine for 99€ in 2020), the Libra is currently discounted at 159€ and the Forma (8GB) was lately discounted a couple of times for even 2 weeks, while it hardly was discounted before.

So no, no hard evidence at all, but nevertheless a possible indication in the Libra/Forma domain.

In Australia, JB HiFi have Kobo devices on sale at least four times a year. It has usually been $20 off for the Glo/Glo HD/Clara HD or about $30 Aura H2O/Libra H2O. I'm not sure if they ever had the Aura ONE or Forma HD on sale. Kobo AU frequently have the same sale.

Timing wise, they usually do it for Mother's Day, Father's Day and Christmas. At those times, they have them in their catalogues. And the usually have them on sale at some other time during the year. Yeah me too. I had issues with the battery but since I changed to KOReader, I don't have any issues anymore... Not sure I understand why though. It lasts around 2-3 weeks again like it was before. The cover is going to shreds though. KA1 will be enough big for my daughter as she likes to read Manga and UMR is godsend.

I saw the Aura Libra H2O on sale for $215 in Harvey Norman, Australia last year. The normal price is $269. I was very tempted but my Aura H2O v1 still works perfectly, sigh!!!

If Kobo wasn't coming out with a new Reader, I may have gone for the Forma on sale in the UK.
