this is the context menu you get from clicking the author in the book details panel, not the one in the tag browser.

That's perfect for me, my normal set up is to show Book Details and hide Tag Browser

And, it makes sense to have all three in the same place.

A little thing that I think is a bit unusual: if I specify a

Code:

?open_at=location

param and the book is in pdf format then it will be opened by the E-Book viewer (not the default system pdf reader) and it takes a long time to load (also doesn't look so good as in the pdf reader).

I guess this is a limitation as we can't tell a specific location to the the system pdf reader ?

Yes, there is no unified way to specify locations for PDF readers. Each reader has a different way to do it and calibre does not know which reader the system will use to open the pdf file.

Renaming a library will invalidate any existing links to that library.

Nothing Kovid can do about that because there's no way of knowing where the links are used.
