That was it!!! Reading with everything unchanged except the Olde MiniClock uninstalled stopped the ridiculously slow and irregular page turns!! I'm so happy!

...now on to the finetuning of the new MiniClock settings

Very true! I did fail to mention that I actually mostly read English books and very seldom read Dutch books, and the first book I read on the new firmware was coincidentally Dutch, so it was the first thing I suspected! "It" being something to do with the language, but I didn't think far enough to (hyphenation) dictionaries.

In any case, it appears it was the Olde MiniClock, as both English and Dutch books are now super fast page turners.

I think one lesson that can be learnt from this is while you did the right thing early on in removing all patches and trying, it would also have been good to remove / disable all add-ons.

And I now feel vaguely better about having spent time on the MiniClock rework, for something I essentially never use myself ;p.

Only vaguely? I’ve been dancing around the room I’m so happy! Just ask my husband, I keep saying “I’m so happy!” to him every three seconds!

(And only the “three seconds” part of that is exaggerated...)
