That's available now. Just trade in your kindle for a kobo

It's more practical to buy something with the feature, than to expect the feature to arrive on the device you have now.

Lots of reader apps do pages like that. Maybe a jailbroken kindle can run one.

Page number changes as you get tired and have to make the text bigger. It only even seems to work if you never change font face / size / margins / line spacing.

I don't mind it being an option. Chapter name on heading or beside footer info would be a nice option.

On a paper book I INSTANTLY have an idea how much is read/left, visually. I only find a page number on printed things as useful to access a page. On an ebook multiple bookmarks & hyperlinked TOC do that better.

ADE page numbers are consistent within a book and across all books and I'm a much better estimator of time left than the algorithms generated by the purveyor. Especially with nonfiction, where in fact I'm not going to read the index or the bibliography, but can easily see how many pages of actual text are left.

If you use Calibre, it gives you the option to set page numbers in Kindle KFX format. I do however like the Kobo feature that displays the pages left in a chapter.
