That's an idea that's crossed my mind, but I haven't looked yet. Part of my plans for the weekend. It's "StoryBookOneMediumPKA" and in the file I have (the subset font file that I, er, liberated), it has "EIPKID" in front of it, e.g.:

EIPKID+StoryBookOneMediumPKA as the name of the font file under "Font name" when you open the font.

They probably contract out their software side. The company who did the version that included that font probably doesn't exist anymore.

You are very probably right. But...that doesn't mean that the font doesn't exist. I mean...we all still have and use fonts from AGES ago.

If that were to prove to be true, it would almost be good news. With a lot of sweat and tears (as I am not an artist by ANY stretch of the word), I could recreate it.

See jackie_w's response above.

I'm glad I dug out my Bitstream 500 fonts disc and copied it (and I'm surprised that I hadn't done it already). It's got some fonts that I've always loved, like their many variations of Cooper. CDs can deteriorate and delaminate.

I'm just going to make a "new" version of it. Change it up a bit. The copyright date is 1999; I've emailed Hallmark and their customer service email is having some sort of issue; I'm offering to buy the cursed thing/family. Honestly, what's the world coming to, when you can't reach HALLMARK, for crying out loud?

So, as we all know, I'm a crappy human being.

I was on Fiverr, looking for an illustrator for a client, and stumbled across various font designers, font finders and font sellers. (The less we discuss the font sellers, the better...'nuff said.) Anyway, I stumbled across one that says he will identify and find ANY font, and deliver the licensed version of it, for $10.

I cannot tell a lie. I could not resist. It's a bit mean, as I already KNOW the name of the cursed thing, but I'll be fascinated to see what he comes up with. I fully expect that he shan't have it (unless some older family member died and left him ninety-trillion font CDs and who-knows-what), but it'll be interesting. As I already know that it's likely fruitless, I'll let him keep the fee anyway, for the labor--but I just could NOT resist.
