Troubleshooting Registration of classic Kindle is disabled on purpose by Amazon? - Page 3

I'm not really convinced there was a registration "window" to begin with. Coverage seems very spotty. After having a strong connection (full bars) when I tested a few days ago with my K2US (Sprint), I've been unable to successfully sync or browse the store since. When it comes to the old Sprint 3G, I'm convinced the adage; "even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes" very much applies, here.

I have a K1 still registered to my account. I never unregistered it and amazon never kicked it off. It has whatever that last update was. Now I haven't turned it on in a while as last time I tried I couldn't find a darn paperclip. But I always charged it up once a month and at least end of last year I was able to download a book on it. Although it was getting a bit spotty with calling home. It cannot get any library books, just what I bought.

eta: I just checked it lists a registration date of march 2014 for my K1. I have no clue why that is. I can't recall de-registering it. At least its still there. I called it Tearlach. I'll have to see if it still connects. But I need a paperclip as it needs to be reset first. And for those that don't know, that is how you do it on the K1. It has a tiny hole on the back.

I just want to see my beloved shiny unicorn bar again. That device got me reading again.

I can't believe it!

My Kindle 2 International, and Kindle DX Graphite are now registered to my account for the first time!

I purchased them used a couple of months ago, did a factory reset to clear all of the previous owners stuff and was then unable to register them to my account.

When I turned them on today, they connected to the wireless and automatically registered themselves to the accounts of the previous owners.

I was able to deregister each device, then register them to my Amazon UK account. Everything works as expected!

Good news. It sounds like Amazon have put the relevant certificates back in the right place on the Internet.

My first Kindle was a K2 and after 5 years I picked up DX when they came back for a while. The 3G whispersync never worked in my home so this has never been an issue at least for me. I have used it when I was away from home a couple of times, honestly maybe 2-3 times. So for 99% of the time I’ve had Kindles 10 + years. I’ve had to connect to a computer if I wanted my books there.
