You just had a much smaller pool of volunteers and users on the Oasis 2, because of its price, and the lack of fallback serial access. After the fact, the slightly more complex and/or finicky hardware meant software needed a bigger amount of tweaks than what we've had to resort to here (which were minimal, essentially just recognizing it).

Just received my Kindle PW4-32GB no SO from Amazon (G000 T608). Sadly, it came with FW 5.10.0.2 (3341680009) and this method didn't work (factory FW was automatically rejected).

P.S.
Per this, my PW4 was manufactured on October 28, 2018:

Can you try the old method from PW1: copy the factory update.bin to the usb-root and reboot the device with the button NOT diconnecting from the computer?

@SKK PM'ed that he's sending some files to coplate and they might have a factory fw for 5.10.0.2. I'm waiting for that first before I try anything else.

I have to ask if you are 100% positive that it shipped with that version, that ther eis no way it could have done a wifi update?

It's never been connected to wifi, so yes, I'm quite positive.

I guess we'll see. Just grabbed a PW4-8GB SO from Best Buy hoping they had earlier inventory with 5.10.0.1 but nada.

PW4-32GB non-SO: G000 T608 (manufactured Oct 28, 2018) - 5.10.0.2
PW4-8GB SO: G000 PP08 (manufactured Oct 10, 2018) - 5.10.0.2

Based on current samples, I think the G000 xx07 might have shipped with 5.10.0.1 firmware while the G000 xx08 might have shipped with 5.10.0.2.

Not if you buy online. The serial number is on the box (bar code), though.
