a ten inch fire HD tablet on black friday will probably go for £99. i paid about that on BF last year, and that will sync your reading position as others have said. it will also run calibre companion and epub reader apps, giving you even more choice.
battery life for reading should be ~12 hours, maybe more And it will stream prime video in HD when you want a break from all that reading ![]() 220+ ppi with the full HD screen so plenty crisp enough for reading, & it can do the less blue light at night trick no one does a 10 inch e-ink at anything close to that price actually, any 10 inch android tablet with the Kindle app will do the job, but a proper android full HD tablet will cost more |

I'm pretty happy with my 2015(?) Paperwhite. All I ask is a PW that is 8 inches and with a comfort light feature. Those two will have me buying a new ereader in no time. Otherwise as long as the PW keeps working, I'll stick with it. It will be the last 6 inch ereader I buy. I use a fairly large font size and I need the real estate, so my next ereader is going to be bigger.
I know Kobo has 8 inch offerings, but I'm not ready to leave the Amazon ecosystem. |

i think the DX was discontinued due to two factors: price and more importantly, at the time, no possible way to add a built-in light for a successor due to the size. i'm not even sure if there is a lit device in this size even now.
and no kindle would be perfect without compatibility with epubs. |
