Did you actually do a conversion to kepub? Or are you using the KoboTouchExtended driver to transform the epubs to kepubs? These work in very different ways. If it was an actual conversion, then I would not expect an error. A suggestion of how to fix these sort of problems is to do an epub-to-epub conversion. That will fix most errors in an epub. And an epub-to-kepub conversion is basically an epub-to-epub conversion plus adding the spans. Doing this would have definitely fixed this error.

Yes, they have changed something and missed catching an error. I have reported the problem pointing at this thread. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next update.

But, as a note, sideloaded kepubs aren't really a supported format. The only reference to them is as a suggestion for book creators to test their books before submitting them to Kobo. Kobo could come back and say "unsupported, fix the book first". I don't expect them to, but, it is a valid response from them.

Good info there. I was using KoboTouchExtended to convert my epubs and mobi files to kepub when transferring to the Forma. I'll do your recommended epub-to-epub conversion while I wait for my replacement Forma to arrive. Hopefully it won't have the lightbar issue either.

I am slowly getting cought up on the Forma issues. I am thinking we are better off buying the Aura ONE 7.8" You get the large screen without the headaches and cheaper too. I am ither going to buy one of those or wait till a second generation Forma comes out in a year or so

Really the only confirmed Forma issue is the light bar thing which doesn’t affect all of them and seems not to bother a fair number of people who have the issue.

This post is malformed epubs. Not an issue with the Forma.

And the only other issue I’ve seen is a proclaimed PWM thing which last I checked the poll had a 100% reporting of it not being an issue and multiple people, myself included, unable to replicate the issue with the same equipment under a variety of circumstances. There was one post in the thread besides the OP who claimed to be able to replicate the issue but they were a one post freshly made account and the OP has been seen dismissing others post about how PWM isn’t as big of an issue for the majority of the population. So I’m a bit skeptical of this issue even being a thing.

Looks like two firmware issues were addressed in today's Forma firmware release (database issues and freezing).
