My problem is I keep finding new eBooks that I want to read now. So the ones I had waiting are still waiting.

Micropay! It be de debil! That curses me to the tune of extra book ordering too. After all it's not like it's "real" money so it can be spent without guilt. Usually it gets used to pay for an unknown book or get one that is just a bit more than I was wanting to pay. Those blasted 50-100% micropay rebates don't help either. Picked up several books with those and then turned around and spent THAT money on more books! (but I can quit anytime, man. really. right after this buy. yea, yea. next week I'll quit it cold.)

And it may sound bad but I didn't even bother to include the PG books and nicely done MR formated books I've picked up. I've got those in another database on the laptop and forgot to count those in.

That will require Tor to produce them. Macmillan, Tor's parent company in the US, is in the process of digitizing Tor's entire catalog, so I expect to see a lot more available in time.

I understand Kindle editions are actually created by a unit of Amazon in most cases (and some seem to be based on scans of paper volumes with insufficient attention paid to editing and formatting the result.)

Now that I buy ebooks, there is no bedside pile to remind me that I have more than enough to read. Honestly, I could stop buying ebooks and still have enough to read for at least five years. But it's soooo easy to buy ebooks that it's difficult for me to stop. And coming here and seeing recommendations doesn't help, either.
I long ago decided that buying books and reading them were separate and distinct pleasures, and therefore I wouldn't be upset about buying six books and having time to read two.

I have about 3,500 volumes on my PDA. The nice things about ebooks is that you don't have to call the paramedics if my To Be Read stack topples over on me.

I did purchase Mistborn 2 and was really disappointed in the way in which it's formatted. It actually looks like a scan I'd find on the darknet. No joke.

My bedside pile is much smaller, it's limited to books that aren't available as ebooks but it's still a much neglected pile. It's more likely to be dusted than have a book removed from the pile.

Same here, right now I'm reading an ebook in my backlog that I purchased 9/07 so I'm 14 months behind. But next up are a couple of books I purchased recently so my backlog will continue to grow.

The only good thing is that I'm not purchasing *any* books or gadgets due to budget constraints so once my micropay is gone I will be forced to read my backlog.

If you add in free ebooks, well I may never get rid of my backlog.

So many books, so little time.

Sadly (not really), my pile of pbooks to be read still grows by leaps and bounds. In the past 2 weeks alone, I bought 7 hardcover books to add to my to-read pile. I now have 218 hardcover pbooks waiting to be read and another 14 on order.

I'm in that same situation of having the ebooks-waiting-to-be-read pile grow larger. I currently have 157 ebooks on my Sony Reader waiting to be read. (Once I read an ebook, I delete it from my Reader.) I currently have 10 books in my wishlist at Sony and another 12 books that I have downloaded from various sources that are on my computer, not yet read, but not yet transferred to my Reader.

I find it particularly hard to pass up a good Sony coupon, like the current 25% off, so I end up buying a book that will have to join the line. Now if I could only get that 3-month vacation on a Caribbean beach -- sun, sand, surf, and books.

Wow, you are WAY worse than me with the hardcovers. I've got about 12 on my bedside table (not counting school/work related) and get annoyed looks from my other half, especially given that part of the rationale for the 505 purchase was that I wouldn't need to buy pbooks anymore.

One of my dearest fantasies is the time to read 8 hours a day. Not that work and school don't involve lots of reading, some of it enjoyable, but ... it would still be fantastic to spend much of my time reading books that I want to read, for no other purpose than the pleasure of reading them.

And, on topic, it really is hard to say no to 100% FW rebates, isn't it? I mean it's practically free. And then the money is already spent, so if you're on the fence about whether or not to buy another book, you might as well use your microcredit account ...
