Since DR1000 comes out, and effort on iLiad may be hard to move to DR1000. Perhaps I should stop the small project.
Well, I have to thank iRex for releasing DR1000, because it persuaded me not to spend too much time on toying my iLiad.
I convert cbr/cbz in iLiad-sized fullscreen pdf (768x1024@160DPI) in two clicks using FastStone Viewer...

It also can optimize contrast/sharpening

I call it "to lie".
I gave iRex more than 1200€ for two devices, and I'm so disappointed I want back all of them.
Now I ask my lawyer if I can sue them, and get my money back.

Or: If there are really interesting user-created plug-ins for the 1000, it can be worthwhile doing a reader that conforms to their plug-in API so that those plug-ins can be compiled for tha iliad .

The hardest part of doing (good) APIs is designing them. Cloning an API is comparatively easy .

I tried the viewer that you mentioned. Does it support cbz/cbr? It seems no. Besides, most of my cimic pics are landscape that is combined by two protrait images. So I need a automatic split function. As to image conversion, I prefer EyeBatch or Advanced batch Converter, because they provide more conversion function. Anyway, thanx for the above info.

Although I am longing to buy a DR1000, I have decided to stick to iLiad for at least two more years, unless it breaks.

There are a couple of utilities here that can help you convert CBR/CBZ to PDF, formatted specifically to iLiad size. There was also a port of a CBZ reader to the iLiad, though it used Java and I don't know if it still works (it was several firmware revisions ago). Personally, I prefer to convert my manga before loading them on the iLiad, as I have a 4Gb CF card and I couldn't store all the manga I own in paper on my iLiad in full CBZ format. I use manga2pdf to process most of the cbz files in batch, then clean up any that didn't convert with JE-Comics Converter. Then I open the resulting PDF files in Acrobat 7 Pro and use the "Reduce File Size..." command. I get nice small files (usually 12-14Mb each), so I can fit plenty on my CF card, and legibility seems to be fine so far. Both manga2pdf and JE-Comics Converter can split double-page spreads, too.

The first java cbz viewer was released by scotty1024, and the second (the last) was released by "me". They are working on FW2.11 only. And a small modification will make them work on FW2.12.

I have tried manga2pdf and JE-Comics Converter last year. They didn't meet my requirements. Still lack some functions I need.

I have plenty manga cbz files. Converting to pdf will be a last choice. I always believe amd pursuit that machine meeting user's need, not user adapting to machine.
