If you are planning to not use the device for over a month, even if it is turned off and not simply in standby, for the sake of the battery you should recharge it every so often (how about once a month to be on the safe side). And yes most devices that have rechargeable batteries are subpar compared to non-chargeable when it comes to self drainage even with ZERO load.
