I don’t save endings, but I sometimes wait a few hours, so I can enjoy the ending when things slow down, and I can savour it with tea, sitting in my favourite chair, fireplace on, etc. I sometimes save books that are part of a favourite series, for ‘special’, like the most recent Liaden book for Christmas.

I’m in the same boat. Although I’ve tried a couple of times to savour it, the end result is often more anti-climatic than if I just continued on

Doesn't that spoil the book/film if you know how it ends?

I wouldn't save the end of a book for a week and read something else inbetween, but I do often save the last few chapters of a book until bedtime, as that's my favourite place/time to read. I hate reading a really good book and wanting to stay up late to finish it when I know I've got to get up for work the next day though.

Sometimes, but I usually only do it for new authors. I guess I'm going to have to change that habit for Nora Roberts. Used to be one of my favorite authors, but she killed off a favorite major character in her last book, so I can't trust her anymore - who'll she kill next - Roarke?

I never hold off. As I get close to the end i try to rush thew it that is why I never remember endings for i try to hurry the book up so I can read the next book BUT If I am in a very dull chapter that seems unnecessary to the story i will skip it to the next. I loved Seveneves by Neal Stephenson but there was one chapter that was like 100 pages that was all tech jargon and was not contributing to the story so i skipped over half that chapter.

Secrets in Death is the last book (as of now). I've read it and no major characters were killed off. Which book are you thinking of?

I do sometimes stop in the middle of a book to star another and then later get back to it. That depends on my mood and how I'm feeling about said book.

I don't want to spoil it for anyone else - I'll pm the name to you. BTW it was under her Nora Roberts name, not JD Robb. We were being factious about Roarke and Mavis, except once an author starts killing main characters off, where will they stop?

Are we talking about a trilogy here? Because I think she has already done it before.

The beginning of a series/maybe trilogy. I thought I'd read everything she ever wrote and don't recall her doing this before - maybe I missed that one, or didn't like the character so it didn't impact me.

Finished Sleeping Beauties. Didn't find the break lessened the book, as I stopped at the end of a section. But like most King books it was long, maybe a bit longer than it needed to be.

She does have a new series out, and according to the marketing, it has no romance. I've even seen it labeled as "horror". Probably will skip that one - I don't read horror any more.
