Which UI would have to be rethought?
Google/Android-Linux or Amazon/Linux?

A light weight (that is, without the graphic animations) Google/Android interface should work without much change outside of porting the Amazon Linux kernel e-ink drivers to the Google/Android Linux kernel.

After all, it is the display drivers in the Linux kernel that abstract the display for user-land code. The user-land code has minimal contact with the actual display hardware.

I do agree that display handling would be a big part of the job, but since the Linux kernel is GPL-v2, those driver sources must be available on request.
(Actually, both sets are already publicly posted.)

I will stick with my conclusion in the other threads on this subject over the years -
A lot of work for very little return.
