So do I. My dad worked nights back when I was a little kid and sometimes he'd take me to A&W's and order a sundae and two spoons along with the root beer. I think we still have one of the little glass mugs. They were easy to forget to return with the tray back then. Eventually they switched to plastic glasses as a result of so many people walking off with the mugs.

Sparkling water only. Those sweet drinks are cloying to my taste now. In my salad days, I was addicted to Tab™ with cyclamates.

Like you, I've abjured sweet drinks, now making and drinking faux San Pellegrino almost exclusively.

Yes! Although it has to be in a frosted mug. Last one I got was in a paper cup. It was horrible. I'll make my own.

I loved them as a kid. Haven't had one in yrs now. Have to watch the sugar level. Especially good on a hot summer day as a way to cool off for a few minutes.

I'm so excited, we're finally getting an A&W restaruant back in town. Opening in September. I can see a corner of the roof from my house.

Our A&W drivein closed like 25 years ago.

We had one in Tennessee. It was awful. They put Rootbeer floats in paper cups. The food was super greasy. Nothing like the place I grew up with.

I can still tell you where the A&W was, I have a vague recollection of eating there only once.
I know we ate at Speedway on occasion. It was a local drive-in.
Of course after the divorce, if we were with dad, our choice on Friday nights was the Eagles. Any other night Speedway or Taco Villa. Always carried back to the Eagles.

Yup, and if Sam Walton saw what the MBAs have done to WalMart he'd be turning over in his grave. And what about Dave Thomas and Wendy's! Too many empires have been built on their founders vision and values only to be destroyed by the second or third generation's greed.

Let's hear it for the good ole days.

Yes, sadly true.... At least Steak 'N Shake is pretty much the same. I grew up eating there because my uncle was a manager at one. My brother worked a server on roller skates. We still eat there at least once a week because they have really good coupons and a whole menu of meals for $4. Doesn't include drink.

We didn't have Sonic till my teens. I now have one in walking distance. They are decent. I think they have stayed the same.

Hardee's has changed completely. We use to eat there all the time. I was there the day Carl Jrs took over and sadly with time ruined it.
