I ripped the entire clip out of the cover, then used two tiny bits of double sided tape to stick the Sony into the back of the cover. This works well. I actually like it better than the clip. The Sony is held firmly in the cover - it doesn't swing around like it used to. If I ever need the reset hole in the back of the Sony, the bits of tape are so small, they will be easy to unstick. |

I've been removing my Reader from the cover (to put it in a ziplok bag) for bath reading every few days. That put some stress on the tabs and eventually they did break recently, so I had to buy a new cover. That makes it a bit under a year of pretty heavy usage. So if you don't remove your Reader regularly, I don't see them breaking any time soon.

I saw this daily planner at Walmart (the Evil Empire) and decided to give it a try.
The edges are hard so there is some protection. The only problem I have is the way the case has to be closed, with a strap, instead of a zipper. The rear section is perfect for holding some sd cards. I also get a note pad and pen holder, CHA-CHING!! ![]() Come on Sony! Build something worth while! |

I would like a case with a zipper. Thanks to all who suggested the idea of a dayplanner case. I will look for one next time I go to Walmart.

A friend is making an aluminum case to hold the reader & stock cover. I told him I want it as thin as possible while still being bomb-proof.
He has a CNC machine and some lightweight aluminum, so I'm curious to see what he comes up with. I'll post pics once it's done (probably a week or so, as he has another project ahead of mine.) |

You can find similar cases holding iPod connectors or PC connectors or whatever you might need, all costing less that $35. And somehow sew in the cover holding strips (the Book Armor uses clear plastic). |

although your make up is pretty neat and would have been my case had i come across it before my current daily planner, the only neg. i can see is the tight fit.
I want to see if the body armor has corners that extend a little beyond the dimensions of the 505's cover. this way there is little pressure pressed up against the reader. my current day planner extends at least 1/4 inch beyond the 505 cover, are very sturdy thus gives me SOME piece of mind. I say some because it is not a zippered case ![]() but like i said before, your modifications of the case is awesome ![]() |

I'm not saying this is as good as the Book Armor case that's been specifically made for the Reader. It just seems like it might be the same basic case from the same assembly line. On mine, the right side is deeper than the left--the right side's zipper is about 5/8 inch of cordura fabric from the hard back, compared to about 1/8 inch on the left). If they're the same case, well, I guess Book Armor has to make a reasonable profit. But if you need cables and don't mind jury rigging a bit ... |

I've ended up sticking with the standard case for the mo, but to transport it in my briefcase on the train, I put it inside a metal DVD tin that I got from Riviera Multimedia for 89p plus £2.99 shipping. It has a hinge and is pretty rigid (especially for 89p!).
Purely for decoration I have looked at the slip covers from Annesaddictions on Etsy, and am waiting for one to come through. |
