Firmware upgrade 4.3.8871 spotted

One bug I was seeing in 4.3.8842 was that the light would sometimes come on when I would wake my H2O from sleep.

I'm hoping this is fixed.

Ah, I see your reason for inquiring.
It used to be "kobo", but I tried several other versions like "kobodesktop", "fnac", "rakutenbooks", "bol", "chapters", "bestbuyca", etc., as according to some newsgroups it might help to get new FW quicker that way. Well, it might help, but I did not see any improvement. The current setting seems to be "bol".

Changing the affiliate setting also get rid of the logo's on the startup page, for those who might be interested.

I had "Kobo" as affiliate and I changed it to "bol" and that triggered the update for me.

1. What about nightmode on this FW 4.3.8871 ? if it runs, is there a toogle to switch between "daymode" and "nightmode" ? if it's the case, a long press on the light button (on glo model for example there a physical button) does the same ?

2. With 4.2.x and last 4.3.x before 4.3.8871, when I was searching a word in dictionnary the first tile was normal, but the second (after press "next") took all the screen : is it the same with this FW 4.3.8871 ?

What does 'after press "next"' mean? I don't see a 'next' button in the dictionary widget.

Moving from 'page' to 'page' in the smaller dictionary widget requires a light swipe left/right (or up/down, if you prefer).

As soon as you tap (rather than swipe) the smaller widget you get the full screen widget instead.

My Glo HD restarted itself a couple of times when I tried to open some books. I read Kepubs. Has anyon else had this?

Yes, I've had that with a couple of books I've downloaded via wifi onto my H2O recently. The first occurred just before I got 4.3.8842 and the second time was after.

I simply deleted the book from my reader and then redownloaded it and all was good.

On Aura HD I tried pressing the sync button without the wifi on - it asked if I wanted to connect - very good. Wifi comes on but the progress stalls at connecting ... I cancelled the sync after 5 minutes.

Isynced both my Kobo Glo orginal's and had to do a factory rest on both of them as after an hour it had still not updated, not happy as I had to sort through the reading books and sort out all those that had not been read and had been finished. When will Kobo show books as finished and not 99% complete when you have finished them.

I just tried on my KA1 - mine already do

Are you sure you're actually finishing them? 'Finishing' requires paging past the final page.

If I close the book whilst the last page is still displayed then I see 99%.

If you lookup a word in a book you get the definition only taking a partial part of the screen. If you then look up a word that's in the definition, you get a full screen definition.

If this is not what you mean, then I have no idea what's going on.

As jackie_w said, mine do now. You can also long press on the book in the library and mark it as finished.

So, since 4.3.8842, the brightness changes by 1% throughout?

That takes care of the one and only patch I use; easier upgrading

I was complaining how impossible it was in an earlier thread to highlight text, as it usually is, but it was worse because the A1 screen sensitivity is all wrong.

I think this patch has made an improvement, even if they didn't set out to do so; unless my previous FW just didn't install properly (I wasn't the only one complaining of screen sensitivity issues).

Highlighting text seems to be way less frustrating; time to install it on my H20!

EDIT: still having the same problem with my H20 in that any FW release after 3.19.5761 does not function properly - when the device is put to sleep, once it wakes up it is non-responsive; can't select anything. Power it off/on and I can use it. Put it to sleep and when it wakes, it's non-responsive. Rolling back to 3.19.5761.
