If Kobo would only do 6 inch readers, there would only be the following reasons to buy a Kobo:

- You want more font options
- You don't want to buy books at Amazon (assuming you're not going to deDRM and use Calibre)

And in going for a Kobo, you get a loss less text than a Kindle, because of the large header and footer (assuming you're not going to patch and hack CSS using Calibre and stuff.)

With the 6.8-7.8 inch readers, Kobo has something that Amazon does not, and that is a *very* good reason to look at them.

You forgot library lending and/or being European, thus getting epubs everywhere.

I don't borrow anything from libraries, so that doesn't count. I've actually sent a feature request to Kobo to have that function removed. No need to have it in there if *I* don't use it, right?

This is the only reason I purchased a Kobo.

I've happily used various Kindle ereaders since 2010, but I recently found a couple free library memberships. Some of the books I want to read are ePub only, so I decided to pick up a Kobo. I haven't bought a book in two months now!

This is why I keep saying I can buy the most expensive reader and it still pays for itself in about two month. I read something around 10 books per month, so any reader I have had saved me a fortune. When it was still paperbooks I was always paying fines or for lost books so I pretty much never went to the library, but when Sony made it possible to lend epubs so easy, I became an avid patron. If only the overdrive thingy would work here too!

Price does not count as a comparison.

To me that comparison was apples to antelopes.
Comparisons need like or similar items. The only thing they have in common is e-ink.

I actually like the page number footer, so all I do is edit the config file to remove the header. It's easy enough to do, though I agree, it would be nicer if Kobo enabled full-screen option out of the box.

Users who don't want it have to edit the config file. How do you know the majority of users would like to get rid of them? Maybe Kobo did what their generic customers like.

I for one do want them. They make it look booklike to me. And a full page looks cluttered to me.

So, no. It wouldn't be better if Kobo had a full-screen out of the box, if you ask me.

They cost the same anyway because one has to factor the cost of either a leather cover (which is approx. 60€ for the Aura ONE) or the official Kobo cover, as the Oasis comes with a leather cover.

So same price for two totally different items.
Makes perfect sense now to be comparing unlike things.

it would be nice to have the full-screen option out of the box and then all customers not just some would be satisfied.

I don't believe the price of the Oasis reflects any additional cost because of its shape. Sure, it has a second battery, but come on...$60 more than the aura One? Are you serious? The Oasis is expensive because people are willing to pay a massively inflated price for it.
