Anyone else having trouble using Overdrive on a Sony reader?

yes, 2.4.01.10241 is what I have and I have not had any problems with it with the new Overdrive.

I'm still waiting to hear back from my library's help desk regarding the email I sent them yesterday.

4691mls - Thanks for starting this thread!

I spent most of yesterday trying to solve the exact same problems you've been describing. I have a great support person at my library and we emailed back and forth to try different fixes. He submitted a support request to Overdrive and said it takes them about a day to respond.
I forgot to mention to him the problem with the Add to App/ epub being combined into one button. I will pass that on today.

As for downloading onto the pc then sideloading to the Sony, I had to do the following to get it to work:

Reinstall ADE 4.5.2.151207
Reinstall Reader for PC 2.4.01.10241
Deauthorized/Reauthorized the PC Adobe ID (probably didn't need this)
Downloaded book from library website (had to "confirm" I had ADE on PC)
The book went straight to Reader for PC
Synced to my Sony - downloaded perfectly

I hate sideloading. I will keep working with my library tech to get OD to download direct to Sony. Keep my fingers crossed!

Hopefully if enough people contact their libraries, who will in turn contact Overdrive, we will get an answer. I hope the answer will not be that Overdrive is discontinuing the direct download function for Sony readers!

I hope not too although I'm pretty sure that's what's happening here. Sony's been out of the ereader business for a few years now, other technology and software continues to evolve, and it will eventually leave our beloved Sonys behind.

That's what I'm afraid of. I want to find out for sure before I give up, though.

If the library really is no longer compatible with Sony, then I'll have to decide if I want to keep using the Sony and just sync from the PC software, or look into alternative readers such as Kobo.

I haven't used the direct access on the reader all that often, but there have been a few times when I was glad to have it.

Okay, I've been messing around with the cloudLibrary software since yesterday and finally got it working. It downloads your checkouts to a tab called My Books. At first it wouldn't download anything (stuck at 10%) so I logged out and logged back in and authorized with my Adobe ID (it auto recognized my ID on first launch, but obviously didn't get something right) after that it downloaded my checkouts.

FWIW it saved the downloads in the same folder ADE saves downloads in.

Now my old Sony 505 isn't installed on my current laptop & I didn't want to mess around with finding it's drivers and Sony's software so I could get it recognized as anything but a drive letter, but I did copy the books from the folder they were downloaded to to the Sony 505 and they read just fine (the 505 is authorized to the same Adobe ID).

According to the videos 3M has posted on YouTube if the reader is one that's recognized by their software (and I assume ADE) then the My Books page should show a green button/bar at the bottom of the book cover to transfer the book to the attached device.

As a side note I will mention that somehow authorizing the cloudLibrary/3M software to my ID somehow screwed up my ADE authorization and cleared ADE's saved library (it didn't delete books from the folder or anything) so I had to reauthorize ADE, but all my old DRM'd downloads still worked fine after I did that and the cloudLibrary books worked fine in ADE too.

Hopefully all the fiddling around will be helpful to someone.

You're on to something Brian! Checked my firmware on my trusty T2 and it said, "1.1.00.15240" and also told me it was the latest? How can that be? Have a few errands to run, but will google and see if there is a later firmware available. Thank you for the post!

1.1.00.15240 is the last firmware for the T2 on the Sony site (released 3/27/14)

And this is where my problem lays. There is no green button/bar at the bottom of the book cover to download to my PRS-T2. Thankfully, I also belong to another library out of town that doesn't use this Cloud Library format so am able to d/l books to my reader from them. Sure thought when reading your post, I was going to be able to do so as well.

Like I said. I don't have the bar either, but the downloaded books end up in the same Documents ---> My Digital Editions folder as ADE downloaded books do so can be transferred that way. The button would be a more convenient transfer for sure, but the other way isn't much harder.

I also really gave my local library a piece of my mind concerning the switchover. And it's all because of $, nothing else. Nothing but a PIA, if you ask me.

Did you get through to anyone on the phone? I haven't heard anything further from my library. I suppose that could mean anything -they don't know anything, they are waiting to hear back from Overdrive, or the person who handles the emails is out sick.... who knows.
