As far as I am aware, the Aura Edition 2 does not support borrowing ebooks from Overdrive at this time. If you have a Aura One and borrow an ebook from Overdrive, it will be available to other Kobo eInk devices.

Nothing has changed in this regard. The same code is being used, it is just that they haven't released an update package for the other devices yet, and some function is only enabled for the Aura ONE. People are successfully running the update on the older devices. And, as I said above, this is consistent with Kobo's new device and firmware practice.

Little update - I happened to pop into a small electronics store to check out their stock, and they had a Kobo Glo HD left in the back! It is so clearly better than the Edition 2 that I can't understand why they discontinued it, but I'm very happy that I found one! I'm really liking it so far.

Glad you like the Glo HD. Now your search can stop. That is until you see an H2O and want it for the larger screen.
